Proposals for former Blakemore cash and carry site off Caernarfon Road, Bangor

Aldi, the award-winning discount food retailer, is preparing plans to open a new, high-quality food store at the former Blakemore’s site off Caernarfon Road. The proposal will be delivered by The Bampton Property Group (part of the Freshwater Group).

The scheme would provide an attractive, modern Aldi food store in a convenient and accessible location in southern Bangor, transforming a brownfield site which has been vacant for three years. It would also provide improvements to Caernarfon Road around the shared point of access to the site and the neighbouring Dunelm store via the creation of a roundabout.

Should planning permission be granted for this proposal, Aldi will relocate from its Garth Road store to Caernarfon Road.

As part of the statutory consultation process, Freshwater triggered the 28-day pre-application consultation period on Friday 22 February 2019 for this site.

You can read detailed information about the proposals as well as the draft planning documents on the Documents and Downloads section.

Freshwater will submit the planning application to Gwynedd County Council in April 2019. We look forward to hearing your thoughts and feedback on our proposals.
